The rally took place on the 5th of March and was a major success with three night stages bei ng the focal point. Cork crew of Owen Murphy and James O'Brien in a Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 9 took the overall honors. Their task was made a lot easier with the demise of two of their main rivals on the opening test. Dubliner John Reid who was the number 1 seed in his Corolla WRC withdrew at the end of the first stage feeling unwell and club members Andrew Purcell and Brian Daniels (EVO 6) rolled out on stage two in Gurteen after an encounter with the scenery. Even at this early point Murphy and O’Brien hold a strong grip on the National Forestry Championship as their win Carrick backed up the season opener in Mitchelstown. On the Club front Craig Breen swept to victory in class 3 also claiming top two wheel drive and best club member of the event.
